Collision Avoidance Systems for Overhead Cranes

Adding a Crane Collision Avoidance System to your overhead crane helps reduce accidents in your operating environment. Using advanced technology like Lidar, Infrared, and Lasers, these anti-collision devices are able to detect distance in real time and control crane movement to prevent potential collisions, whether between different types of cranes or between cranes and objects. This can help avoid costly repairs, reduce maintenance costs, increase worker safety, and enhance performance in your facility.

Tri-State Overhead Crane offers various types of safety technology that reduce the risk of crane collisions in the workplace. Browse our selection of collision avoidance systems below to find the best option for your application.

LAC Crane Anti-Collision System

The LAC Crane Anti-Collision System by Engineered Components Group uses lidar technology to reduce the risk of collisions between bridge cranes and improve safety. It features a lidar sensor, reflector-less operation for wide object detection, and programmable slow down/stop limits from a mobile device. The system can be installed on a single crane with no companion part, configurable from the ground, and comes in various cable lengths to suit your needs.

LaserGuard 2

Magnetek's LaserGuard 2 Collision Avoidance System measures the distance between the laser unit's lens and its companion retro-reflective target by means of pulse ranging technology that allows for very accurate measurements and energy efficiency. This type of communications link has very high noise immunity and provides the necessary accuracy to measure distances from 8 inches to 150 feet. The laser has a visible light beam, which makes system alignment very easy.

Duct-O-Wire CAS Series Anti-Collision Device

Duct-O-Wire's CAS Series Crane Anti-Collision Devices use lasers to prevent crane crashes on indoor cranes. The CAS-1RA-O offers a simpler solution for stopping cranes within a 3 ft. to 30 ft. range, ideal for basic applications like crane separation or end stop detection. If you need more control, the CAS-2L100 provides slow down and stop functionality within a 3 ft. to 100 ft. range, making it suitable for complex situations. Both systems include mounting hardware and function reliably in various lighting conditions.
