Gorbel overhead workstation bridge cranes use an enclosed track design to deliver smooth, precise load movement across a rectangular work zone. The bridge travels the full length of the runway while the hoist trolley travels the full width of the bridge — giving operators X and Y axis coverage over the entire footprint of the system. Free standing workstation bridge cranes are self-supporting systems that install directly on a standard 6-inch concrete floor — no foundation work or building structure required. Because they are independent of the facility, free standing systems can be relocated as production layouts change. Gorbel Ceiling Mounted Work Station Bridge Cranes

Ceiling mounted workstation bridge cranes suspend directly from your building's overhead structure, keeping the production floor completely clear of support columns and floor obstructions. This makes them the preferred choice in facilities where forklift traffic, pedestrian flow, or floor space utilization can't accommodate free standing columns. The same enclosed track design used in free standing systems delivers rigid runways, smooth trolley movement, and precise load positioning — with the added ability to run multiple bridges on a single runway system to serve several workstations simultaneously.

Ceiling mounted systems are available in steel and aluminum construction across the same capacity and span range as free standing models, with runway lengths extending to 124 feet standard. A Gorbel monorail system moves a hoist along a single enclosed track — providing precise, controlled material transport along a fixed linear path. Where a bridge crane covers a rectangular work zone with full X and Y axis movement, a monorail follows a defined flow line through your facility. This makes monorails the right choice when parts need to move through a specific sequence of operations: from one assembly station to the next, through a dip tank or wash station, along a paint or coating line, or between work cells in a controlled order.
