Hoist Motor Repair and Installation

Problem: A customer had a hoist motor going bad due to contaminants in the air, and got to the point it needed replaced quickly. With the integral brake, we had an 1,800 pound motor to replace, 56 feet in the air.

Solution: We planned the replacement to allow the customer continued use of another crane to minimize production impacts, stopping production for less than 2 hours total during the work. The runway had to be shut down for this period of time as the limited access area for equipment to reach the crane in question, and to mitigate any safety issues while our equipment was in the path of the cranes. We had to work with maintenance and customer electricians, along with production supervisors and floor personnel to ensure everyone understood what was happening and when.

End Result: When completed, the new hoist motor was running smoothly. The customer was able to move a process back into this area, and in was very happy.
