Emergency 40 Ton Crane Repair

Problem: A customer called on a Saturday evening with reports of a crane skewing badly. The operator heard grinding metal from the crane and was forced to stop production. This became an emergency breakdown situation as it limited the whole plant's operation without the crane.

Solution: Our service department rallied three service technicians out to the site. We were able to determine that the wheel shaft was sheared from the wheel gear, and they were actually in two separate pieces. Our technicians had to secure and fly the old wheel and gear down. We removed the sheared shaft and put the wheel, gear, and bearings on a new shaft. The new assembly was flown up via a deck crane and reinstalled.

End Result: The customer was able to get their production restored with minimal downtime and was very happy with our quick response.
